Hmmmm, I notice some of these answers are distinctly lacking in the humour department...............righty o then, well done to the people who get it!

A Gorm is a small bug type thing, but not the listening device kind, it looks a bit like a ladybird but it's blue with purple spots and it sits inside your head, and if you're clever and stay clever, it's because your Gorm loves you and wants to stay with you all the time, however sometimes you might have been too mean and nasty or maybe lacking intelligence more than usual, then your Gorm will leave you and go into someone elses head, usually people only have one Gorm in their heads, but people with a high IQ, errrrm say about IQ of 130 have about 3 of these bugs in their heads, about the same as 130 PE teachers, I think.

Gorm is the equivalent of Interface Builder that was originally found on NeXTSTEP, then OPENSTEP, and finally on Mac OS X. Interface Builder was believed by many who have used it to be far ahead of its time. Interface Builder, together with Project Builder (now rewritten as Xcode in Mac OS X versions after Mac OS X v10.3), formed one of the most productive, clean and coherent programming environments and was surely part of the success of the various operating systems that used it.

Gorm and Project Center represent the heart of the suite for GNUstep. Gorm follows Interface Builder so closely that using tutorials written for the latter is possible without much hassle and thus brings the power of Interface Builder to the open source world being part of the GNU project.

Gorm allows developers to quickly create graphical applications and to design every little aspect of the application's user interface. The developer can drag and drop all types of objects like menus, buttons, tables, lists and browsers into to the interface. With the mouse it is possible to resize, move or convert the objects or connect them to functions as well as to edit nearly every aspect of them using Gorm's powerful inspectors.

Gaum or gorm = notice, heed, regard, attention, understanding - to pay attentionto, to heed, to understand. Gaumless or gormless - stupid, witless, vacant. Orignally from old Norse.

a gorm is a little creature inside your head that makes you look alert, when you don't have one, you become less alert, therefore you are gormless

Ha ha ha

If some one is gormless they are useless, waste of space, dumb, you get the picture.

dont think you get them from a specific place, as such, they are allowed live like the rest of us so are intergrated into society!

It comes from a dialect of Scotland, it means that someone is glaiket, (another one for you) it means that the person is clueless, has no sense and seems to live in another world.
